ChristineWhen asked why she supports the Senior Friendship Centers, Christine says “I am committed to Senior Friendship Centers because of the amazing work we do to help people over 60 find socialization with their peers, find enrichment, improve their health and find community” She adds, “people turn to us in times of crisis. We make a difference in people’s lives.”

Christine derives her unwavering support for the Senior Friendship Centers from witnessing the profound impact of socialization on her mother's physical well-being. She observed her mother's journey, recognizing the transformative power of community and companionship.

As her mother faced the challenges of grief, depression, and moderate vascular dementia, Christine saw a decline in her ability to live independently. However, when an opportunity arose for her mother to move to an assisted living facility within her retirement community, Christine noticed a remarkable change. Within this community, her mother discovered a renewed sense of purpose and connection through interactions with staff and fellow residents.

Inspired by her mother's experience, Christine firmly believes that the Senior Friendship Centers provide the perfect avenue for seniors to experience the benefits of socialization. She understands that human connection plays a pivotal role in improving physical health and overall well-being. In addition, she shares how Senior Friendship Centers is the safety net of older adults even in  times of crisis such as seniors unable to pay an electric bill, car not starting, or when they can’t go to work, or other untoward event.
